The preparatory course 0-A1 is geared towards students with no prior knowledge of Estonian. It deals with key topics from day-to-day life, for example, food, leisure and living, and in doing so teaches basic concepts of Estonian grammar.You learn how to greet others and how to present yourself. You are able to ask for something in Estonian and to ask questions. You read simple texts and practise completing forms and writing emails. With the help of listening exercises, you learn to understand spoken Estonian, for example on the radio or on the telephone.The course concludes with the Estonian A1 test.
A1- A2 Breakthrough - Elementary Estonian Course
(10 ECP, total 260 hours (includes 160 contact hours, 5 months, twice a week)
A2- B1 Pre-Intermediate - Intermediate Course: (8 ECP, total 208 hrs (160 contact hours, 5 months, twice a week);
B1- B2 Intermediate - Upper-intermediate Course: (18 ECP, total 468 hours (250 contact hours, 8 months);
The preparatory course for the A1-A2 certificate is geared towards students with prior knowledge of Estonian to level A1. It deals with key topics from day-to-day life, such as health, orientation in the town and shopping, and in doing so builds upon basic grammatical knowledge.
You learn to hold simple conversations and to arrange meetings, for example. You deepen your reading skills using authentic texts (newspaper articles, reports, advertisements etc.) and practise writing informal letters. With the help of listening exercises, you learn to understand spoken Estonian, including in longer discussions. The course concludes with the national Estonian A2 examination.
Certificate B1 - The preparatory course for the B1 certificate is geared towards students with prior knowledge of Estonian to level A2. It deals with key issues from day-to-day life, for example education, work, protecting the environment and media. The course rounds off the basic grammatical knowledge taught in the preparatory courses for certificates A1 and A2. You learn to express yourself freely in Estonian, in order to report about your personal situation, for example, or to be able to negotiate something with a partner. When it comes to reading, you acquire the ability to understand complicated everyday texts, such as newspaper advertisements or package information leaflets. You practise writing formal letters, such as applications or letters of complaint, and, with the help of listening exercises, learn to understand spoken Estonian in general, everyday situations, even when it is not spoken slowly and clearly. The course concludes with the Estonian test for immigrants (A2 - B1). Successful participation in the final examination is sufficient proof of satisfactory Estonian language skills for citizenship applications.

Our team consists of the prominent researchers, lecturers and Estonian language teachers who have vast experience in this field, who are native speakers and have designed the adaptation course for newcomers in Estonia in 2009. Our team utilises over 20 years' experience of teaching Estonian as a second language and producing Estonian language teaching and learning materials. Currently ImmiSchool provides Estonian language courses for All Newcomers without any restrictions at the level of A1, A2, B1 and B2 and covers up to 50% of the course fee. The rest of the course fee is covered by Innove after our language learners have successfully passed the A2, B1 or B2 level exam. Thus, you can actually have the Estonian language course for free.
We provide the Estonian language courses at the level of:
0- A2 - for Beginners (10 ECP, total 260 hours (includes 160 contact hours, 5 months, twice a week, 8 academic hours per week), excursions-lectures introducing Estonian culture and history.
A2- B1 - (pre-) intermediate course: (8 ECP, total 208 hours (150 contact hours, 58 hours of individual work, appr. 5 months);
B1- B2 - upper-intermediate course: (18 ECP, total 468 hours (250 contact hours; 218 hours of individual work; 9 months);
All materials are included, individual work is supported by online language learning environment. Every course ends with the national exam. After graduation you’ll receive a certificate.
Our language training works towards the language examinations in a systematic and targeted manner. The teaching staff utilises contemporary teaching methods, latest textbooks as well as modern technology and media. All four areas of competence, listening, speaking, reading and writing, are trained. As language serves above all for communication purposes, we place special value on the communicative approach and improvement of your speaking skills. We help you to expand your repertoire of learning strategies, and promote your active, independent learning, e.g. finding tandem partners among native speakers. We are proud to acknowledge that in the last year all our graduates passed successfully the national exam and most with very high scores.
